| Well I was having a conversation with chilidog when I went to go take a shower. He will attest to this. I came back and I was asked to re-log in. I typed in my account name and password multiple times and nothing worked. Someone hacked my account. I sent in a support ticket to Steam but who knows what they'll do, if they even respond to it. I really don't know what to do, my purchased games are at stake and so if my credit card. I could lose a lot of money in this ordeal and I will not be able to game without my account. I'm really sorry, I'll try to get my account back asap.
...This is really depressing... | |

| I hope you get it sorted out soon, this takes the utter rip, people out there have been hacking into GFWL accounts as well. If I was you I'd keep a close eye on all transactions on your cards via online banking if possible. Try and run a scan on any pc's you've accessed Steam from as they may have a keylogger on them. If any illegal purchases do get made you need to stop your card asap. Anyhow let me know how you get on. | |

| I got it back. Steam support rocks! And nah, no clue as to what happened. I did intensify my password though. | |

| Cool, I'm glad to hear you got things sorted quickly. Had someone hacked ito it then? All these cases of identity fraud are getting out of hand these days. These scumbags would even root through our trash to gain details to commit fraud. That's why it's important to shred any personal information before you put it in the trash. Things like bank statements, wage slips etc. are a gold mine for these people. As they have moved on to the so-called cyber-crime they rely on phishing attempts, key loggers and other methods to gain sensitive information that nets them lots of money. It's really important to have decent anti-virus and firewall activated or we just put ourselves in unnecessary risks whilst browsing the web. These account hackings can be really annoying as they often fleece any payment methods tied to the account, thus incurring huge costs for the user. I'm totally paranoid of thing like this happening and constantly run scans to look for keyloggers etc. | |

| That's good because there are some services that struggle to get your accounts back after they've been hijacked. I can uderstand how it happens if it was a result of a phishing attack but when it comes down to keyloggers etc. I just don't get it (if you're running anti-virus). What really gets me is how the technical support advisors for certain games advise you to turn your anti-virus/firewall off while playing a game. This is just plan stupid as it would leave your pc vunerable to attacks. They need to start thinking of solutions to get these games working with ant-virus running correctly | |
