UK USC SERVER ALOMST READY!

Hey clanmates!

Got some great news fror everyone!

I've almost built a server PC which I can use for certain clan duties such as hosting games (that have dedicated server tools) for everyone to play! I've managed to get most of the components together which include a Biostar motherboard, an AMD Ahlon 64 X2 4400+ CPU, 2 GB RAM (will be expanded to 4 GB later on) and other left over parts I've managed to gather along the way. All I need now is a hard drive and we're set! I'll be running the trial of Windows Home server which lasts for 120 days when you have to format and reinstall which shouldn't be to much of a problem. If any clan members have any advice, let me know.

Also guys get your requests in for which games you'd like to see hosted and providing I can get the free tool to host games we should be set to blast the USC banner sky high!

That's great news! We should do Insurgency to start with because 1. It's free if you have any Source game. 2. It has a really easy dedicated server tool which you can download off Steam.

I'll look into it when I've finished it by getting a hard drive.

Sounds good. I have plans for another server as well.

This is an estimate from Game Servers. If we can some how muster up this money, we can get a game server and a voice server for the whole year.



We'd need a lot of donations or we could split the cost and make it much more manageable.
For example:

Split 3 ways: $94.42 each
Split 5 ways: $56.65 each
Split 10 ways: $28.33 each

Obviously there will be rewards and privileges given to those who donate to the clan.

If that still seems like too much, we can share the cost more broadly.
Lets say we get 30 members (we're half way there already). If each one was willing to donate the cost per person would be $9.45. Very reasonable.

We'll have one server up soon but two would make this clan even better!

Well, I wouldn't mind donating a little bit, but theres no reason for me to donate for a battlefield server when I don't have battlefield and don't plan on getting it anytime soon...

That's just an example. We can change games whenever we want.

I'm a bit skint at the moment but if my plans work we won't need to pay a single dime for servers. I've got some lengthy tuts to read but I should be ok. I have to figure out how to install firedaemon on my server though to run apps as services
